Video Week: Zero Waste Hotel

If you're in the U.S. and happen to be in the vicinity of Boulder, Colorado, then it's worth checking out the Boulder Outlook Hotel, which happens to run on Zero Waste principles. You can see how they manage it in the following You Tube video. It is something that I would dearly like to see in the UK, so if you know of any such organisations locally, please let me know as I would love to feature them.

For those who are wondering, The City of Boulder is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and apparently is known for "its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, natural product retailers and restaurants, outstanding alternative transportation options, diverse businesses, and technological and academic resources". Sounds great doesn't it! For further information, check out the City of Boulder website.

It is good to see someone other than a consumer, a hotelier, setting a zero waste target. Business in general is slow to join in. Hopefully, this will be a new trend in the hotel industry.

Regards,

John.

what a great video! Really inspiring and insightful. I don't know about places over here, but the 'organic places to stay' website and book might offer some ideas, as well as the ecoescape information. I'll let you know if I come across anything.

I just love those containers made from old boxes and paint that the staff and their families made - they're awesome. I would love to know, however, how much interest the guests take in separating their rubbish..........

Hi John - it's true, the more businesses the better. Hopefully more and more will be inspired to join in.

Hi Mrs Green - thanks for the tip about the website. Perhaps we should email the hotel to find out ;-D Nice to meet you last week by the way. x
